wow, the title for this entry is perhaps a little too heavy on the reminiscent side. but whatever.
i was going to say that it's amazing how your mind remembers random little things.
there's a song i remember from my kindergarten or first grade years, maybe even preschool years. it was on a yellow cassette tape of songs about safety. i remember thinking, "wow, these songs are really good." they just sounded so good to me at the time. even now, i think they are good songs. simple, good lyrics, good melody, and obviously really memorable (or at least one of them was). vocals were performed by a small chorus of kids. i forget what the instrumentation was like, maybe a piano.
the song i remember goes like this (can't find it anywhere on the net):
"all around the town
swimming pools are found
it's so much fun to play
in the water every day
you should all beware
of the dangers there
so be safe
be smart
never swim alone
make sure someone's home
do not run
or you will fall down
watch for little ones
if they cannot swim
they could get too close
and tumble in
all around the town..."
how i can remember all the lyrics for this song, i don't know.
i wonder if my parents still have the tape somewhere..
