i don't want to pay for them.. i don't like their cars :P
"Until they show us the plan, we cannot show them the money," said Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat.
the only plan that would work is to make cars that are as good or better than japanese cars.
not a rhetorical question: why is the government bailing out car companies? can anyone ask for bailout money, or is it just certain sectors? could mervyns ask for bailout money?
lol.. "The executives also drew fire for failing to take symbolic measures to show they are personally sharing in the sacrifice. Congressmen from both sides of the aisle chastised them for flying corporate jets to Washington to ask for billions of dollars in assistance from taxpayers. They were also pressed to say whether they would cut their salaries to $1. Chrysler's Mr. Nardelli said he would. Messrs. Wagoner and Mulally demurred." well, i appreciate that from nardelli. as for gm and ford: your company is going to die, you won't cut your own pay.. but you'll beg for money from taxpayers? you expect taxpayers to care? how much do you care about your own company? tsk tsk.
i can't help but think that generations from now, when kids are taking their US history classes and reading about how the first african-american* to be elected as president happened on november 4, 2008.. they'll wonder about those times.. how epic it must have been for us.. in fact, even now i can't even fathom how epic it is. it's been happening, and is still happening right now, and it's huge. they'll be wondering about the headlines that must've been printed, about all the parties, about all the tv specials and news stories, and they'll probably look some of that stuff up online, and ask what it was like. it's like i almost want to take screenshots of different online news sites. we are living in an epic thread, but at the same time.. and this is what these kids in the future won't really think about.. life is just normal. it's like 11pm.. quiet outside.. refrigerator is humming.. computer running. i'm wearing my stage6 jacket, which has shrunken from being in the dryer too long. i'm not sure exactly what i'm trying to say.. maybe it's the contrast (or juxtaposition, if you will) of this momentous occasion in history with regular life.
anyway. amazing times.
*edit: first partially african-american. dude's half white.
