best way to create a pandora station?

i've been playing with pandora for a while now, and i think the best way to create a station is to only thumbs-down songs you don't like, and to never thumbs-up a song (only bookmark, for your reference). i think that giving a thumbs-up will really limit what gets played on a station, and your station might start going in a direction that you didn't intend it to. but if you only thumbs-down songs, then it won't go in unintended directions.

i find myself thinking too much about whether i should thumbs-up a song or not. is this song representative enough of the type of sound i'm trying to achieve? it's usually really difficult to say. it's much easier to say that we simply don't like a song. pandora should then trim down the kind of songs it plays for you, and you'll eventually be left with songs that you don't dislike, which, hopefully, means they are songs you like.

the "problem" with this, however, is that you would need to create stations based on an artist, rather than a song, so that pandora has more qualities to work with (i'm guessing).. which means it could take a long time (a lot of thumbs-downing) to achieve the sound you want.

the reasoning against this is that thumbs-upping a song has the same effect as adding that song as a seed. hmm. ignore this entire post?

google chrome

so i wanted to watch the trailer for "burn after reading".. found a link at apple.com. clicked on "medium", and the movie started to load. but then it crashed, and i got the windows "google chrome has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the incovenience" error message screen. i was like uh oh, could this mean that my google chrome browser will vanish now? but no.. it didn't happen. instead, a message appeared on the tab that said "The following plug-in has crashed : QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.3". and that was it. google chrome was still open, everything perfectly fine. i could continue browsing, even that same apple.com page. this is because everything is a separate process in google chrome, including the plugin. so only that process got closed, everything else remained intact. pretty cooooll......

nice full screen text editor...

firefox + google docs. full screen mode in both (F11 in firefox, ctrl+shift+f in google docs).

the charleston, danced to daft punk

so i saw this video yesterday.. from like the 1920's or something.. al minns and leon james doing some charleston dance moves.. except someone dubbed daft punk's "around the world" over it:

but it bugged me cuz it wasn't actually in sync. so i created a version that is:

not perfect, but good enough.

figured out the timing of their dancing.. reconciled the difference between it and "around the world" by pitch shifting the song to match it, then dubbing it with the video and doing an assumefps() to a faster speed and resampling the audio afterwards.

moot == !(moot)

so, what's up with the definition of "moot"?

from answers.com:

1. Subject to debate; arguable: a moot question.
2.
a. Law. Without legal significance, through having been previously decided or settled.
b. Of no practical importance; irrelevant.

the first definition seems to be contrary to the second definition. i don't appreciate that.
