att online account for residential phone line = dumb

if anyone has used att.com, you will discover that it's dumb. one reason is that you can't tell when your bill is due. so i wrote customer service:

Hi,

My online bill does not indicate when my bill is due.

Supposedly, if you enroll in automatic payments, the bill will state that your card will be debited automatically, so, I guess you don't need to know when your bill is due, since it's all automatic. However, during the "pending" period immediately after you enroll in automatic payments, you should still be able to know when your bill is due, but that information can't be found anywhere in this case either.

Basically, the due date should be clearly visible on online accounts no matter what. It seems painfully stupid that it's not. Just have an info box that says:

Due by: 12/26/07
Enrolled in automatic payments: Yes. Your card will automatically be debited by 12/26/07.

or

Due by: 12/26/07
Enrolled in automatic payments: No. You will need to make a manual payment by 12/26/07.

or

Due by: 12/26/07
Enrolled in automatic payments: Pending. You will need to make a manual payment by 12/26/07.
