total coincidence.. i showed the SNL digital short, "iran so far", last night to wendi.. here it is:
today, i had my winamp on random, and aphex twin - avril 14th came on. i was like huh, nice piano song.. but man.. sounds an awful lot like iran so far:
Avril 14th - Aphex Twin
snl digital shorts on wikipedia shows that avril 14th was indeed sampled.. or maybe that was written by someone who happened to notice..
6:48pm Sleipner I saw Xchat on an episode of The Mentalist
6:49pm Sleipner they were in IRCnet or something on #linux.be
from here.
saw it too.. here's a pic:
mike just sent me this vid:
pretty tite.
afterwards i looked up the real song..
i listened 3, maybe 4 times, bobbing my head the whole time. the "related" vids on the side led me through even more mid-90's dance music awesomeness:
la bouche..
ace of base..
snap.. ("oh snap!", i said upon hearing the intro)
and of course.. NO MERCY. embedding is disabled, but here is the link. where do you go, my lovely? where do you go? cuz like, i want to know.
the videos bring a whole new layer of glee on top of the delightfulness that are these songs, wouldn't you agree?
ENJOY.
just got my first-ever contact lenses. i don't plan on replacing my glasses with them; they're just for snorkeling this weekend.
anyway, i had the eye exam, contact lens eval, and contact lens fitting done at the office of gartner and galstian on regents, in the same plaza as leucadia pizza and vons. it went smoothly. dr. gartner was very personable and thorough, and understanding of my concerns and what i wanted (several disposable contacts just for the weekend). the fitting was done by his assistant, michelle, who was patient with me despite my left contact having ambiguous inverted/non-inverted orientation. the whole experience was much more pleasant than i expected, and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
you can remember their website url by thinking "good game eye care", which makes no sense at all, but it works for me because of the gg in it.. like ggpo, but instead of peace out, it's eye care. ggec.
speaking of gg, i find myself saying "gg" for things completely unrelated to games or sports. like after our standup meetings in the morning, i'll say "gg." it's like a fun little closing statement that wraps up the whole situation in a nice neat package, and also shows that you have good sportsmanship.
one of the replacements for amy poehler and tina fey on SNL is abby elliott. sigh..
she kinda reminds me of jayma mays.. double sigh..
i like the "for" command in windows. i'm guessing it was stolen from unix, but i don't care. it helps me a lot for when i need to do something on a set of files, but i don't want to write a proper script.
here's a quick example to illustrate its power. say i have sets of files like this:
vid01-2p.avi
vid02-2p.avi
...
vid74-2p.avi
aud01.mp3
aud02.mp3
...
aud74.mp3
and i want to mux them together to get clip01.divx, clip02.divx... clip74.divx, and then run a checker to verify them.
this can be easily accomplished with "for":
for /L %x in (01,1,74) do (
mux.exe -v vid%x-2p.avi -a aud%x.mp3 -o clip%x.divx
checkClip.exe -i clip%x.divx > clip%x.log
)
this will create 74 files using my aud* and vid* files as input, and then check them.
for more info, just type "help for" at the command prompt.
i can't stand stuff like this. what about the parents? how about the parents discourage their kids from drinking sugary drinks, ffs??
ulterior motive for posting this: i get pissed off whenever i'm around kids who can't sit still or stfu in quiet, public places. but they're kids. maybe they've got ADD.. or more likely, their parents just feed them junk food to get them to shut up temporarily. i totally put on my judgmental cap when i see rowdy kids in public :-[
